If You’re Considering Postponing Your Wedding

Bride and Groom in barn wedding Upstate New York

With everything that is going on in the world it is natural to look at your upcoming wedding date and worry that you could be at risk for interruption. No one really knows when this coronavirus is going to blow over and everyone is left trying to make the best guess on what is going to happen to their spring and summer wedding dates. If you are considering postponing your 2020 wedding here are some things you should consider –

  • Be flexible with your options and be open to “out of the box” ideas like a weekday wedding to secure the vendors you love. We don’t think that family and friends won’t be willing to party down on a Monday or a Thursday when we are finally out of this mess.

  • When you have your new date secured, get all of your vendors’ availability confirmed in writing so your service package and rates stay the same and everything is transferred to your rescheduled date. Legal protection is always a good idea.

  • Let your guests know your new plans through “Change The Date” cards and updates on your wedding website so they can rearrange their travel and lodging.

  • Make appointments for all the “little stuff” well in advance to avoid the rescheduled wedding rush – things like your rehearsal dinner spot, teeth whitening, attire alterations, hair cuts, and honeymoon planning. Don’t wait on these “little” things – if you are not able to get them on your calendar you will quickly notice how big these things really are.

  • Take a much needed breath and know that you are making the decision that is best for you and your families. Safety and health first. Kick ass party to follow.

Need help working through all of these details, or have specific questions for your wedding that you can’t find an answer for in our guides? We’ve got you. Reminder that we are offering FREE 30-minute phone consultations until May 30th for any couple who is looking for help in these trying times. Contact us to lock in your spot today.

xoxo,

Shannon
