Sarah and Blake were married in Troy NY at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church and their reception was celebrated at Franklin Plaza. They hired us to coordinate their ceremony rehearsal, their wedding day, and to support in the farewell brunch the day after their event.
I could tell from our first call that Sarah was a bride who knew what she wanted, and I love that! Sarah’s Aunt Deanna is the Executive Assistant at Franklin Plaza so it’s somewhat of a tradition to have family events there. Also made it feel extra special that Deanna supported having WPP be a part of a family and Franklin Plaza event.
The month leading up to the wedding, we had a weekly call to review details and perfect the timeline. The week of the wedding, Sarah and Blake arrived in NY and we were finally able to meet face to face for the first time during the final venue meeting.
On Friday, I made a quick stop to Samantha Nass Florist, to drop off a surprise for the bride- Aunt Deanna had given me a photo of Sarah’s grandmother to add to her bouquet. Next, I recruited my son (he works for donuts and cider) to help me pickup the wedding favors. Bowman’s Orchard made different types of delicious candied apples that went perfectly with the fall theme of the wedding. We also grabbed several gallons of fresh apple cider for the couple’s signature drink and headed to Franklin Plaza to drop everything off.
Wedding Day! My WPP Assistant, Kristina, started the day for us, bright and early setting up breakfast in the Bridal Suite and making sure Sarah had everything she needed. She then headed to a pick up lunch for the groomsmen, while Alex and myself got to work steaming Sarah’s dresses, and making sure Kevin & Josh had all they needed for photo and video.
A first for me, was during the ceremony at the church, the power went out! Later I was chatting with family members and I loved to hear how they thought it was a special family member letting their presence be known. 🙂
As the night went on, guests enjoyed cocktail hour, and we snuck Sarah away to change into her reception dress and Sarah’s hairdresser did a quick up-do. Then it was party time. We ended the night, standing in the pouring rain, for the most perfect photo opportunity.
Sunday, Alex and Kristina coordinated the “to-go” station at the hotel as guests departed for home. It was a beautiful weekend for a beautiful couple!
I feel so honored to be a part of this family’s special days. Thank you Sarah and Blake for including me and the WPP Team for an amazing wedding weekend!
xoxo,
Leah
