Fall Weddings In Upstate NY

Fall in upstate NY is the busiest and most sought after time of year for weddings in the area. With peak foliage, fall drinks and autumnal colors, couples love the cozy feel that fall gives their wedding day. We want to share some trends we’ve seen that can really add to your vibe.

Time of Year/ Peak Foliage
If you’re dreaming of a picturesque fall wedding, Upstate New York during peak foliage is truly magical. The last two weeks of September through the first two weeks of October typically offer the perfect blend of vibrant colors and pleasant weather. During this time, the landscape transforms into a breathtaking canvas of fiery reds, golden yellows, and rustic oranges, creating an enchanting backdrop for your ceremony and photos.

Scenic Venues
1. Sablewood is an amazing venue if you’re looking for scenic ceremony photos. Surrounded by mountains, hills and valleys, the foliage gives you color to your day.
2. Wydler is lovely for a weekend event because the grounds are just beautiful. If you’re looking to spend time outside you have the mountains, the streams and the architecture all giving you that relaxed remarkable feeling.
3. The Barn at Lord Howe Valley gives you an exceptional view, even for cocktail hour. With the stone patio overlooking the mountains, your guests can enjoy the view with their drinks and some lawn games while they mingle.
4. The Ruins of Sassafras gives you not only a unique photo opportunity in the ruins, but it also gives you great views of the mountains, meadows, waterfall and stream.

Décor
When planning your wedding décor, don’t underestimate the impact of your flowers and bridesmaids’ dresses! They can truly enhance the atmosphere without requiring major changes. Consider choosing dresses in a variety of complementary colors to create a vibrant, cohesive fall palette. Think deep burgundies, warm oranges, and rich yellows—these shades can harmonize beautifully with seasonal blooms. As your bridesmaids move throughout the day, their dresses will add pops of color and charm to every setting, from the ceremony to the reception. This playful mix not only makes for stunning photos but also brings a joyful energy to your celebration!

Extras
Adding fall-inspired extras to your wedding can beautifully enhance the seasonal ambiance and create memorable experiences for your guests. Consider incorporating a beer truck to capture those Oktoberfest vibes, offering a fun selection of local brews. Cider donuts are another delightful touch, bringing warmth and nostalgia to your dessert table. You might also think about serving fall-themed signature drinks, like specialty cocktails infused with autumn spices or warm apple cider, which can keep everyone cozy and festive. Offering maple syrup favors not only reflects the flavors of the season but also gives your guests a sweet memento to take home. And to end the night, have a cozy fire and some s’mores! What a way to wind down after a day of dancing and celebration. These small details can tie in the fall feeling, making your wedding uniquely enchanting!
