Michael and Kimberly’s wedding at The Ruins at Sassafras was as romantic and unique as their love story. Surrounded by the natural beauty of wild gardens, stone walls, and serene summer skies, they created a day filled with personal touches and genuine emotion.
The two met through their church and bonded over their shared love of theater. Kimberly knew it was right when Michael created a space where she could be fully herself, and Michael knew it was love when Kimberly made him feel the happiest he’d ever been.
Their day began on a perfect, cool summer morning. Michael spent his quiet hours in the cottage with their dog, Toto—named after the beloved pup from The Wizard of Oz—soaking in the day as he hand wrote his vows on the porch. Meanwhile, Kimberly was tucked away in the Stone House, getting ready with her bridal party. Her matron of honor, Stephanie, styled everyone’s hair—a sentimental throwback to their childhood days of playing dress up together.
Once ready, Kimberly slipped into her gown with the help of her matron and maid of honor. The atmosphere was calm and joyful, filled with gratitude and anticipation. She then made her way to meet Michael for their first look under a graceful willow tree by the dock. Toto even made a special appearance for a family photo, making the moment all the more memorable.
Together, Michael and Kimberly explored the grounds for portraits, basking in the natural beauty that surrounded them. They met up with their wedding party for more iconic shots, mountains rising in the distance like something out of a storybook.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed into the Rose Dwelling for the ceremony. Michael walked down the aisle with his parents, and Kimberly followed, arm in arm with her godfather. Her father had passed years earlier, and in her vows, she honored his memory—sharing how Michael had brought that kind of love and security back into her life.
After the ceremony, guests gathered at the Moroccan Bar for signature cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres while Michael and Kimberly took a private moment to soak it all in. It was a pause in the whirlwind—a quiet time to hold onto the magic of the day.
They soon made their way to the barn, where they saw their reception setup for the first time. It looked like something from a fairytale: sheet music runners, bud vases with hand-picked flowers, blush taper candles, green floral chargers, and delicate glass goblets. Every detail was meaningful and intentional.
Introductions led straight into their first dance—a choreographed ballet. Kimberly wore ballet slippers, and Michael played the role of her perfect prince charming. It was graceful, intimate, and perfectly “them”.
Dinner was served family-style, and the couple snuck away for golden-hour portraits. Back in the Chair Factory, heartfelt toasts were given by Michael’s father, who was also the best man, and Kimberly’s maid of honor. Then, it was time to celebrate.
The dance floor and photo booth opened, and the party was officially underway. Kimberly tossed her bouquet, and the couple cut into their beautiful music-inspired cake—it looked like it was draped in linen and adorned with musical notes, a nod to their shared love of the arts.
Before the night wrapped up, Michael and Kimberly took the mic to thank their guests, and then danced the night away, surrounded by their favorite people.
It was a true honor to be part of this day. A love like Michael and Kimberly’s reminds us exactly why we do what we do—and how beautiful every single moment can be.

Eliza
