Amanda and John were married on the campus where they met, Colgate University. Their ceremony took place on the massive altar at the Colgate Chapel and their reception was held in a sail cloth tent on Merrill House lawn. Living in Boston they hired my services to help them plan their wedding long distance. And having worked many weddings on this campus over the years we were able to use their vision and my expertise to create a stunning wedding weekend for them.
Amanda and John wanted an elegant wedding with classic, preppy, and New England Coastal vibes. They decided on a palette of blush, beige, and cream and kept their details sophisticated and clean. Amanda chose a Monique Lhuillier dress with a detachable outer skirt and John went for the classic formal black tux. For the reception we chose beige linens, gold beaded glass chargers, fluffy floral centerpieces in gold compote bowls, and greenery lining the entrance to the tent and the front of the rustic wooden bars. Of all of the weddings I have planned I am especially proud of how well the event design came together for them. Everything was just beautiful.
Many of the guests were also Colgate alumni so the weekend was very special for many of them. Staying overnight at the Colgate Inn or the Wendt, riding to the wedding on a Colgate Cruiser, and enjoying an afterparty at The Bacon (Hour Glass). It was a very joyous weekend for everyone.
I typically have at least one Colgate wedding on my calendar each year and it is always so much fun for me to plan these campus events. Amanda and John’s day is one weddings I am most proud to have been a part of. Thank you Amanda and John for entrusting me with your big day!
xoxo,
Shannon
