Anamarie and Joe were married on the shores of Seneca Lake outside of Watkins Glen in June 2020, proving to themselves and the world that a pandemic cannot stop love. Although their original plan was for a three-day wedding extravaganza, they humbly and smartly shifted to a microwedding with just their families to achieve the married status they were seeking, and to prove that love wins over any and all obstacles.
These two were the absolute best partners in planning a wedding during a pandemic. They kept a laser focus on the priority of their parents and siblings being able to attend safely, and they shifted to wanting a bright color palate to bring as much joy into their day as they could (knowing they were celebrating in a time that is so dark to so many others).
The true beauty of a microwedding, where you strip away the distractions of a huge guest list or an oversized amount of formalities, is that you have the unique ability to celebrate in a way that feels truly authentic to you and your partner. No one is pulling you to step up for the next photo or the next dance, you don’t have to feel a pressure to address or entertain hundreds of onlookers, and you don’t have to be anything other than who you are from sunrise to sunset. In this way you can celebrate in a way that feels natural to you, react to genuine conversations with the ones you love so truly, and be able to soak it all in without dealing with excess noise. Some of the photos here highlight how beautifully Anamarie and Joe were able to do all of this in a way that was truly meaningful for themselves. These special moments show how relaxed they were that day, and are my absolute favorites of their day.
I am eagerly awaiting the pleasure of celebrating with these two again next year, where we hope to be able to feel more free to let our hair down and have their full guest count on hand for a first anniversary shindig!! They say that when life throws you lemons you make lemonade. I don’t know the perfect analogy to make to Anamarie and Joe, other to say that I will share in that cup of sunshine with these two as many times I as I am able. 🙂
Anamarie and Joe, I wish all of my congrats on becoming husband and wife! Now let’s boogie down for real in 2021!
